Pumamaqui Foundation: We build biocultural spaces where nature and culture intertwine.

Who we are
As a foundation, we strive to transform the world by promoting innovation and sustainability, ensuring harmony between people and the natural world.
Our work
Through inclusive environmental governance, we conserve nature, improve livelihoods, and ensure equitable access to natural resources for a just future. Discover our areas of work:
Biocultural Reserve and Scientific Station Iloculin – Llanganates
Through research and the development of inclusive and sustainable environmental governance models, we protect biodiversity-rich ecosystems and promote the well-being of communities and peoples in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Our work minimizes the impact of external threats like mining and deforestation by proposing sustainable, long-term alternatives.

Rewilding and restoring public spaces and green areas
We restore urban landscapes and ecosystems by revitalizing the endemic Andean landscape. We incorporate rewilding practices, including the cultivation and use of native species, ancestral knowledge of plant uses and benefits, and sustainable management of public spaces and green areas, with an emphasis on socio-environmental education and community participation.

String value
Our work is built on collaboration. We partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, including indigenous peoples, community groups, NGOs, universities, research institutions, local governments, public and private sector organizations, and international bodies. Through these partnerships, we foster research, support the development of public policies, and implement socio-environmental projects.
